How to use vinegar for washing clothes?

The major misconception is that adding vinegar to washing clothes or detergents makes your clothes look dull and lose their natural colors. Let’s help you with this.

1. Use ½ cup of distilled vinegar to protect the color of your clothes. You can use this hack while washing clothes with dark colors like black and navy blue from becoming dull due to repeated washing.

To keep colors from fading dip bright colors in the solution of 1/2 cup vinegar and water, then wash them.

2. At times clothes become static (mostly synthetic) due to excess drying or wearing. Pour 1/2 cup of distilled vinegar to the last rinse cycle to the laundry. This will prevent your clothes from becoming static. You can even use the solution for certain fabrics to get rid of lint.

3. The soapy residue you notice on your clothes after washing them, the detergent can cause streak or roughness. The residue is commonly visible on dark clothes such as navy blue or black, making them look faded and dull. Wash your clothes with a solution of 1 cup of vinegar washing clothes and water. Soak your clothes in this solution and wash them normally.

4. You use a washing machine to clean your clothes frequently. You might notice a residue or dirt and soap accumulated over time. It might stick to the surfaces and later get to your clothes. Hence, once in a while add 1 cup of vinegar in your washer and run it unloaded. This will make it look fresh and clean.

Make sure you don’t mix vinegar and laundry detergent; however, you can use them in the same load. The ideal way to use them is to add the vinegar to the rinse cycle after cleaning the detergent. Otherwise, you’ll notice a layer of oil on your clothes which is difficult to remove.

The use of vinegar washing clothes depends on the purpose. For instance :

Add the vinegar to the bleach dispenser to brighten your clothes. Add vinegar to your fabric softener dispenser, for softening your clothes. Add vinegar directly to the washing machine during the rinse cycle, fight mild odors or replace it with the common detergent.

As kids grow, you have to adjust their pant hems and pull them down, which will leave a mark on the cloth. To get rid of holes or lines when the cloth is altered moisten a white cloth with distilled white vinegar. Place the pant under the fabric and press.

Bottom Line

Replace your laundry detergent with vinegar as it is inexpensive, effective, and naturally friendly. Use vinegar washing clothes for various purposes, such as getting rid of odor, removing lint or soap residue from clothes, or preventing them from fading.
